Welcome Back Letter

September 10, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians of Grades Kindergarten through 5 Students:

On behalf of the P.S. 241 Community of Learners, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child(ren) to the new school year 2019-2020.  We, at P.S. 241, strive to do our best to educate your child and to live up to your expectations.  This year, we have many interesting events planned and we encourage you to visit our calendar online at ps241k.org.

As we begin this new school year, we ask for your cooperation and support in our quest to make P.S. 241 a great learning environment for our children.  I also want to remind you that all students must wear their uniforms every day and be punctual on a daily basis.

Please note that our school's hours are from 8:10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for all students. Students may not arrive at school prior to 8:10 a.m. since there will be no staff present to receive or supervise them before the said time.  In addition, please be reminded that parents are responsible to ensure that their children are picked up on time on a daily basis.

Please note the following locations for entrance and dismissal:

3-K & Pre-K Mini-School

Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2 Schoolyard

Grade 3 Side Entrance Across From Clara Barton H.S.

End of 2021 Letter

December 23, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I know that many of us wish this year was ending on a different note as Omicron encroaches upon our City. However, I want to take this time to embrace the spirit of the season by expressing my gratitude.

I am thankful for all the students who returned in September with enthusiasm for the chance to socialize, to connect with their teachers and peers in person. I am thankful for each family who entrusted us with their children, trusting that we would keep them safe, support them academically and nurture them emotionally.

Lastly, I am thankful for the faculty, administrators and staff at P.S. 241 who, as always, have gone above and beyond to D.A.R.E. our students to succeed. We have had a fun-filled December celebrating the holidays. I hope the same joy, and excitement fills your next ten days. I cannot wait to greet you and our students

on Monday, January 3rd to kick off an amazing calendar year together. May your 2022 be filled with love, joy, peace and most of all, health.

Sincerely,

Tamara Foy

End of School Year 2021 - 2022 Letter

June 27, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As this school year and my first full year as principal ends, I want to say thank you for making it one to remember! In September, we started the school year with excitement and trepidation. We wore our masks, were physically distant, closed classes when necessary and began to reset the academic and social-emotional learning needs of our community. As we traversed this all, we did it with a smile and leaned on one another through these challenging times. Thankfully, as the year wore on, mandates eased and we were able to open up to our families and see our students’ faces. It has been a joy to have families attend events once again and we look forward to seeing you even more next year.

Over the summer, Ms. Changkit, Ms. Butler and I will be available at the school to support you, answer questions and hear your feedback. We will also host some planning sessions that you are welcomed to attend. So, please continue to check ClassDojo regularly throughout the summer and view posts when you receive notifications. We will be sharing information about summer learning and enrichment opportunities, highlighting our favorite moments over the past year and much more.

We have made it through another history-making academic year. We cannot wait to see you and your children in September!

May you and your families remain safe and healthy over the summer.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
